Competition: Reliability through Timeslotted Channel Hopping and Flooding-based Routing
نویسندگان
چکیده
The recent IEEE802.15.4e-2012 standard proposes medium access variants for improving the efficiency of lowpower and lossy networks. The Timeslotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) mode enables wireless networks that can support applications with high-reliability requirements, such as smart factories, process automation and smart buildings. In TSCH-based networks, time is sliced into time slots and channel hopping is used to combat external interference and multi-path fading. The IETF 6TiSCH working group currently standardizes different scheduling approaches and what routing protocol to use. OpenWSN is the de-facto opensource implementation of TSCH/6TiSCH. We propose to participate in the EWSN Dependability Competition by utilizing a modified version of OpenWSN in which we employ controlled flooding as a routing protocol. We believe the channel hopping nature of IEEE802.15.4e TSCH will yield high reliability, and controlled flooding will yield low latency and resilience to topological changes. Lessons learnt from participating in the competition will be fed back to the IETF 6TiSCH standardization group; the code developed will be contributed to the OpenWSN opensource project (www.openwsn.org).

Competition: Robust Flooding using Back-to-Back Synchronous Transmissions with Channel-Hopping
We present a new protocol that is based on consecutive, synchronous transmissions. By aligning transmissions based on timeouts, the protocol becomes more resilient to interference. We propose two methods to mitigate the effect of less accurate temporal packet alignment, namely time synchronization and random transmit powers.
متن کاملOn the reliability of ad hoc routing protocols for loss-and-delay sensitive applications
In this paper, we analyze the packet delivery reliability of ad hoc routing protocols for lossand-delay sensitive applications. Since a typical flooding-based route discovery used in ad hoc routing protocols – DSR for instance – can only discover node-disjoint paths. In this context, we first show that the reliability function of such a multipath system is concave with respect to the total numb...

Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) from the IEEE 802.15.4-2015 standard uses channel hopping to combat interference and frequency-selective fading. It has attracted large attention from the research community due to its properties: high reliability in terms of packet delivery rates, and increased predictability in terms of energy consumption and latency, as compared to commonly used lowpower C...
متن کاملMESH: multi-eye spiral-hopping routing protocol in a wireless ad hoc network
A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a characterized by multi-hop wireless links, absence of any cellular infrastructure, and frequent host mobility. Existing MANET routing protocols are divided into location-aware and non-locationaware routing protocols. In a location-aware routing protocol, location information can be exploited to facilitate routing. Our protocol, namely multi-eye spiral-hoppin...
